I've got to change the traction tires on my MTH Railking Scale FP45 w/PS-2.

After reading the operators manual it's appearant that the truck has to be removed to get to the sideframe screws.

Is it proper practice to drop the truck from the motor mount removing the single screw from the bottom or do I have to remove the cab and go in from the top of the chassi?

The Manual is a little vague.

Your expert assistance is most appreciate.

I have done some Williams diesel engines and if MTH is similar, I would say to remove the shell or top off of the engine so that when you go to put it back together again you can hold the motor assembly in place. Make sure the top of the motor can turn freely along with the wheelset after being put back into the truck assembly, if the motor can't turn good you will have trouble.

I have changed the traction tire on an MTH steam engine and you must do them in pairs or you will wear out the new one fast.

FYI; I have never had any success with rubber cement on traction tires, the tire just keeps falling off the wheel even with rubber cement.
