How do you rebuild a century-old caboose? With a little help from your friends! Project Manager David "DJ" DePanicis takes us on a tour of the finished restoration of Wabash Railroad caboose no. 2534, one of only two wooden Wabash cabooses in existence.

That is impressive.  Given the condition when found I wonder how much of the original car they were able to use, and how much was rebuilt.  I am sure this is a problem that others who have done car restoration have come across in the past.  "Yes that piece of wood is original, but it isn't in that good of shape and further deterioration would just require that it be replaced.  So let's do it now."  It would be interesting to know what the thought process is for that kind of decision.
