I stay at the Four Points by Sheraton behind the Round the Clock Diner.  Primarily because I always get breakfast there before going to the meet (and is very convenient if I get the urge for a late night cheeseburger ).  And it is a short drive to the fairgrounds.  There are a lot of good hotels in York, I'd recommend using one of the hotel booking sites to at least check availability of rooms and proximity to the fairgrounds.  The ones closest to the fairgrounds usually book solid pretty quickly.

Pretty filled up now, I see that the Super-8 still has rooms.

I used to stay there fairly regularly, but it has gone seriously downhill in the past 5 years or so.  There's a reason why their prices are low and rooms are available.

Might be worth checking on places in Lancaster - usually much less expensive, and about a 30 minute drive to the fairgrounds.

Tried staying in Lancaster a couple of times.  30 minute drive under optimal conditions (no traffic) maybe.  I've never made that drive during weekday rush hour in under an hour.  When 30 gets close to York, traffic gets pretty heavy in the mornings.

Before I started staying at Four Points, I used to stay at Value Inn Harrisburg - York off of exit 34 of I83.  17 miles to the fairgrounds and very inexpensive, and the drive in was not bad until you hit Rt. 30 morning traffic.  There is even an over-land route you can take that avoids 30 altogether (will need map program to guide you as it has a few twists and turns).  If I were rooming by myself, I'd go back there to save a little $$$.  It is really no-frills, but I just need a comfortable place to sleep and a clean bathroom as I don't spend much time in hotels when not sleeping.

There is a wonderful bed & breakfast called the Lady Linden as I recall that I stayed at once that was walking distance (about a 1/2 mile) from the fair grounds.  I didn't have a vehicle on that trip.

I also am a fan of the Yorktowne.  A little pricey, but a cool old hotel.

Most people stay at the chains out along US 30, but my preference is for something a little different every time I go to York.  It's just part of the experience.

Andy .....Is they're traffic noise from the interstate?

Just use google or tripadvisor with the dates of the meet plugged in.

That will pull up anywhere that has a room, how much it is, and the reviews of it all in one place.

I'm not saying that the info here is bad, but everyone who goes to York has "their spot" and its inherently better than all the rest of them.

A month out, its going to be a little bit of whatever is left laying around, or someone cancels.

If budget is a constraint, its not that bad of a drive from Harrisburg or Lancaster or some of the other surrounding interstate exits with hotels on the off ramps and it might cost a little or a lot less.

None that I have ever noticed from inside the hotel (Four Points).  Can't guarantee that there won't be noise from rowdy train nuts, though.   The last York in 2019, they were in the process of a serious renovation, so I am looking forward to staying there again.

The place I used to stay North of York off of I83 would occasionally have noise from 18-wheelers passing by on the local roads, but was otherwise fairly quiet.

We liked staying at the Yorktown.  But the problem was all on-site parking was valet only.  Every morning we had to wait 20 minutes or more for our car. Almost missed planned breakfasts with other people.

The last straw was when they did damage to my car. I reported it to the front desk but never got resolution or heard from them at all. So we never stayed there again.

After that we always stayed at the Sheraton Four Points. Never had a problem and always enjoyed our visit. Now we like to check out other places just for variety sake. We liked Homewood Suites by Hilton, an exit above the 30/83 interchange and this time we’re trying the Tru by Hilton.

If you can't find a room send me an email (in profile) the first week of October.  I have a room at the LaQuinta on Thursday night and am 99% sure I can't stay overnight as my son's college's Family Weekend is that weekend and he has a performance Friday night which my wife and I want to be at.    My wife isn't able to get off of work so we need to drive out at 3:00 pm Friday when she's done work (vs her coming to York with me on Thursday).   No way I can go to the usual gathering Thursday night at Quaker Steak and Lube only to drive 6 hours on Friday.    If that's the case I'll gladly transfer my room to someone who can use it.

Alas, I just got confirmation that they are keeping the border and travel restrictions in place until November so my son and I have to cancel our trip to York for the 3rd time since this began!

The good news is that means there is a room available at the Wyndham Garden for the whole week. That is the hotel that hosts bandit meets. I just cancelled so should be available first come first served.

We are really disappointed but with my son being only 9 it’s probably the best choice at this point in any case as he can’t be vaccinated. Enjoy York and I hope we will be there next time!

Sorry to hear that, and very thoughtful to give the heads-up for someone who might still need a room.  I admire your dedication to travel from so far away.  Hope that it works out for April or next October.

Hotels seem to be pretty heavily booked, which is a good sign.  As always, a few rooms will become available at the last minute.

Public service announcement:  I called the Wyndham Garden and LaQuinta Inn.  Apparently, the Wyndham is no longer serving hot food as part of the complimentary breakfast (although the girl I spoke with seemed confused by my question), but LaQuinta does serve hot food with theirs.

LaQuinta's pool is closed (didn't ask about Wyndham), but that's not an amenity that I use.

Just a heads up for anyone staying at these places.

We stayed at the Yorktown Inn for almost 20 years until they closed for renovations. They received some type of historical grant and the new owners are still working on it. Almost 5 years at it!
We now stay at LaQuinta on Kenneth Road. Nice place, spacious, clean rooms and very good complimentary hot breakfast.
And walking distance to the OGR shindig on Thursday night at Quaker Steak n Lube!
13 days and counting down!
