Renumbering an engine

Picture will be great, easier to hide when they are not on silver. Is this it? Make it 806, 808, 809? Have to make sure you only remove the number and not go thru the engine color. Many posts here with various techniques.

BobbyD that’s the exact engine. How do guys go about removing a decal without messing up the finish?

I've had good luck with laquer thinner on a paper towel and using that to rub the letters off. It usually removes the lettering with no damage to the paint underneath. CHECK IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA FIRST. You want to make sure the laquer thinner doesn't damage the paint. 

Many different methods have been used successfully on different mfrs paint, Testors Easy Lift Off, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, different solvents like the lacquer thinner above, even a regular old pencil eraser.  Do a search on removing numbers from MTH engines to see what works best.  I seem to recall threads about MTH graphics being harder to remove than others.  I've used the Testors ELO successfully on MTH rolling stock.

I’ll try the thinner, and the testors product. I was already planning on hitting the fuel tank and see what happens.
