I managed to break one of my trucks off of an Atlas-O 3 rail 40’ Reefer. The truck came clean off with the mounting nub attached to the truck by the mounting screw.

I unscrewed the nub and fastened it back on the bolster with a liberal application of Plastic Weld. After letting the solvent set overnight, I remounted the truck using the Atlas-O screw.

But I didn’t trust this to hold during hard coupling.

So I disassembled the car. Trucks, underframe, chassis to get to the Diecast floor. Turns out that my car floor was already drilled, but not tapped, directly under the truck mount on the underframe.

I tapped both existing holes in the floor using an M2.0 tap which is the same as the other tapped holes in the floor.

I placed the under frame back on the floor and test mounted the trucks using a 20mm M2.0 bolt with both an M2 and an M2.5  washer.

When that worked, I reassembled the car.

Better than new!IMG_7006IMG_7005IMG_7008IMG_7009IMG_7010IMG_7013
