My lift rings were located in the wrong position on my Santa Fe freight A unit so I moved them to the proper position. I checked first for photographic evidence of position.

This is pretty easy to do. The lift rings are metal and a press fit into the nose.

1. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and move the lift ring gently side to side while pulling gently, but steadily.

Out they pop. they have 2 pins.

2. I decided to trim off and file down the top pin so I only have to drill and glue one pin. Aids adjustment and squaring up the pin.

3. Drill one appropriate sized hole in the nose. Do one side at a time. Measure twice before marking and drilling. Use a fresh exacto sharp point to start a divot before drilling.

Trial fit and do the other side. make sure they match. I used a tiny bit of gorilla CA to glue.

And TADA your done !

I'm going to use a tiny piece of ATSF decal and cover it or  plug it with plastic tube carefully sand then paint.

I'll show the work when I do it.

Right now it is beer thirty.

Interesting. Although I'm having a REAL Martini, i.e. gin with plain olives, I certainly can relate to "beer thirty".

Concerning your repair, I wonder how the colors will match, plus I wonder how the same repair would work on the passenger "war bonnet" paint scheme.
