Here are a few shots of my latest project a B&M Bluebird #33. I bought this one on E-Bay for very little since it didn't run and I intended to cannibalize it for parts. It was missing the brush tubes, wiring, and reverse switch, parts that I had and the armature looked almost new.  After seeing this I decided it was time for another 33 ( I already have two 33's and also a 38).

These pictures are the 33 just after it came out of the paint shop. It still needs a few touch-ups and then I have to decide which decals to put on it.  More pictures will follow as I get it completed.

Restoring the old engines is fun, I have my father-in-laws 33 set, both passenger and freight car consists. The engine was rebuilt for me by a local technician who specializes in the pre war stuff. It shows its age but we are keeping it as received when unpacked the boxes from his attic when he passed away back in 1988. The slide rheostat transformer is cool but only for display. It runs around the Christmas tree as my layout did not have room for a standard gauge loop.

Cool Pete! Didn’t you do a B&M hopper a while back to match?

I have done a few B&M things in the past as you can see. I've always been a B&M fan, as a young child the B&M mainline in Beverly MA was right behind our back yard. I think my dad bought that house because of the tracks ( even in his 90's he's still a B&M fan.  See some pictures below of some B&M items I've painted.

Finished this one today. I'm not 100% happy with it, it looks great but......With parts  probably over 90 years old it's loose and makes a lot of gear noise as it runs. On my next parts orders I'll get a replacement drive gear, mounting screw and any spacers and see if that makes a difference.  I also have to order the horn that I forgot on the last order. Overall looks good, runs  good, but noisy.  You'll notice in one of the pictures I mounted the rear coupler on top of the cow catcher to make it mate better with 500 series cars.
