Now regarding running this engine with my MTH 5033 Remote Commander. If I power the 50-1033 directly with my Z1000 the engine does work. But it won't run under DCS control if the remote commander is in a passive mode. i.e. hooked up only to the track.
Is this correct? or should it work DCS thru the passive mode? Or a
m I not hooking up 'Passive Mode' correctly

I think I can answer this for you.
While I haven’t tried this configuration I believe, the engine should still respond to the remote commander if it does not have a dcs address programmed into it. Since you have a dcs system, if it has an address, simply perform a factory reset (not a feature reset) and it should work from the commander if the dcs signal is present or not.

If the engine works using the DCS Remote Commander in normal mode, then it should always work properly in passive mode, as well, if it's wired in either one of two ways in a multi-track block environment:
However, if the engine is added to a DCS Remote (or DCS App) it must be factory reset and not re-added to the DCS Remote in order to run with the DCS Remote Commander, at all.
