Is the problem that the SC-2 momentary outputs have a minimum on-time that is too long?  What is that time?

For example, the MTH AIU momentary "ACCessory" relay outputs fire a minimum of 0.2 seconds no matter how briefly you press the remote ACT button.

Another option is to look at low-cost ($2-3 on eBay, free shipping from Asia) relay timer modules.  These can be programmed to fire their relay for, say, 0.1 seconds even if triggered for a longer interval.  Depending on what you're doing, some of these modules can be programmed to send a sequence of timed relay triggers.  I recall an OGR thread where the goal was to automatically generate a series of 20 (or whatever it was) pulses to send Gabe all the way up the ladder.

As an aside, if going with capacitive discharge, look at the $1-2 eBay relay modules that have external triggers.  This may be techno-babble, but the idea is rather than driving the relay coil directly, the module has a buffer circuit which lowers the relay coil current - 100 times less current or so.  This generally means a much smaller capacitor
