I explore the sound files and light features on the MTH SD70ACe and SD70M-2, as well as the Lionel SD70ACe. The MTH SD70ACe I examine is the Barcode unit, NS 1111, from the 2018 Volume 2 catalog (20-21057-1). The SD70M-2 (2665) is a bit older, from 2017 Volume 1 (20-20744-1). The Lionel engine, NS 1030, is from the 2018 Big Book (6-85055). Overall, as usual, I found that the MTH models exhibited a much higher level of auditory and luminary fidelity than the Lionel model, but that in terms of quality of the sounds, Lionel again outdid MTH. Specifically, I focused on horns, E-bells, prime mover sounds, and the presence of rear ditch lights. The MTH SD70s were fairly similar in terms of their sound and light features.
