SPHERE PROJECT

Hi Everyone,

I was contacted by Phillips 66 Refining Company. They wanted to have some spheres constructed to give out as gifts for some of the people that worked on a project that included the construction of some real spheres. The construction site was in Medford, Texas. I came up with the ones you see in the pictures below. I made one prototype and am following up with the other five. All materials used to construct the spheres can be purchased from Plastruct. If anyone would like to buy one, contact me. I can make them in many colors and with different oil company logos.

Very nice work!!! I am going to have a refinery on my layout, dad had one job post college with Ashland Oil. Hope my stuff looks near as good.

Joe,

The spheres are 6 inches in diameter. The stairway could not stick out much past the base so I curved the top section. That is why there is no midrail on the top stair section. If I left the midrail in, I would not be able to bend the stair handrail. The sphere are on o-scale.
