Alan, that is awesome!! Your talents are over the top. I need to get off of my rear and ad something to this thread!!! I did install a new gas heater in the train building to replace the baseboard electric heaters, but I don't think anyone wants to see that!!!!

Over the past year, I have been following Alan’s progress updates on petroleum storage tank models he’s built. In many cases he’s shared step-by-step updates showing his methods. So, I’ve been trying to emulate his techniques on my workbench.
Here’s a storage tank I’m working on which is ~15-1/2” in diameter, made from 0.020” sheet polystyrene.
After I assembled the basic cylinder with cone roof, I added the spiral stairs. I made a 3/16” template, traced the stair pattern on the side, and glued the steps one at a time.

Then I applied a Plastruct ABS railing ( I should have used polystyrene, but it’s what I had on hand) .  I’m working on the top platform and hardware today.

Starting out the new year with some major progress on the layout over my time off.  Finally have some benchwork done and pulling together the scenic elements I've been working on into a cohesive railroad.

Alan, thanks for starting this thread every week and for sharing your inspirational builds.

I built this coal sorting building for a friend's layout.  I just had a cell phone photo to go on so I'm sure I got a few things wrong but it gets the point across.

Back to doing some "scenery"......

This is a summary of the last week which was busy:

1. Moved some track to get a longer "lead-in" to the Transfer Table.

2. Took delivery on my TW TrainWorx 3 stall Engine House....and, opened it to assess it's painting needs.

3. Started preparing the Transfer Table for installation by painting the pit an aged concrete color.

Done! The next step is more blue tape, white glue and fine gravel.

......and, for those who are "health conscious", the painting was also "gluten free and lowered my cholesterol".......
