Test rollers are nice, but pretty much just a novelty in my book and way too expensive to use only once or twice. Having them supporting non powered wheels seems excessive to me. Only needed two, so that's all I made. One day I might fashion a stationary support for leading and trailing wheels
Aluminum angle stock from HD as are the 6x12 mm allen head cap screws.
Bearings are available on E-bay. The ones I used are 16mm OD x 5mm wide with a 6mm center hole.
If you buy the thicker aluminum stock you can tap the threads right in them. Bases are plexiglass epoxied across the two rails. Only need hand tools.

Can't imagine what I would need all that for. Just end up collecting dust in a closet.
Since I repair/service I use my roller test stand a lot. Every engine repair gets a run on it. I also test couplers and sliding shoe cars.
I believe the bushings are getting a little elongated becasue I get an engine wobble on the first set of rollers. I may measure and replace with bearings as seen above.

Wow, Spence and everyone, thanks for posting these tips! I can see setting up an engine on test rollers as a dinner table center piece...Instead of passing the gravey, please pass the Legacy remote!

My set of rollers arrived today and I strongly second JohnS' tip on adding the 6/32 nuts to the bottom 4 screws on each roller base. With the nuts installed, the roller assemblies are a nice snug fit on Gargraves track, and a somewhat snugger fit on LIONEL 031 track.
