Alan,

I am writing as I just saw your post in January about negative comments on the Forum, and wanted you to know how much I appreciate the Forum, this beautifully written piece on this issue, and your good work on behalf of our community.

I believe I know to some degree the effort, expertise, time and patience needed to do this work, and just wanted to let you know my sincere appreciation.

I most assuredly second this. The OGR Forums is a case of social media being a useful, positive and even fun tool. This doesn't just happen but must be constantly watched and nurtured without a feeling of heavy-handedness and I thank the good people at OGR for this platform and it's maintenance. It does help that most of the people who post here are pretty careful to be themselves positive.

I'd like to think of the OGR forum as a more intelligent area of social media. Most of the time it is useful, helpful, insightful and interesting, but when the negative comments start flying. I find another post to read.

Recently, a celebrity posted that she thought of social media as the toilet of the internet. At times I agree.
