I wanted to publically thank JT Mega-Steam.  I response to a post I made on a recent thread that I run with smoke units off because my wife doesn't like the smell, they sent a sample of their "NADA" (No Scent) smoke fluid.  It works as advertised.  There is the barest trace of a smell but not enough that my wife objects and it produces a lot of smoke: frankly, I think the fact that I have obtained a "smell-less" fluid alone means she is happy with it.  JT also sent some eliminator fluid that would help burn off old scent but most of my locos were pretty dry since I had never filled them nor run the smoke since testing each when new.

It is fun to run with smoke.  I will sometimes run without it still: I often set my locos to running for hours on end "unattended" while I work on the layout, and I will continue to shut off the smoke then because I don't want them to go and run dry, but it is fun, as tonight, to run three big locos with gobs of smoke.  Really filled up the celing with a nice cloud of smoke, and the puffing really adds to the fun of run the locos. I definately appreciate this NADA fluid. Great stuff.

Coal-fired and Eliminator.
But not sure what it eliminates.
I only used original Lionel (because I have all this little bottles, some Seuthe that came with a K-line caboose and Lionel Oremium which I bought to compare.

Smoke units in general seem to be quite variable depending on how long since last used, too much fluid, not enough fluid, etc...etc.
And the silly advice to add more if it smells like it is "burning" is so scientific.
I think that we need a "melting plastic and electrical shorting" version" LOL I am replacing my Mogul smoke unit and voltage unit for following that advice.
Still smoked great but all the PCB connectors are melted.

But considering this is my first electronic "issue" I am not complaining.
Part of the hobby. If you run em, you will need to fix em at some point.
Just glad parts are still available.
My family enjoys the different scents. I change scents about once a month. I do run some JT Eliminator through them when changing scents.

It gets too crazy using different scents in different engines so when I change I change scents in all of them.  The new Blueberry flavor was awesome. I bought a bottle at York and its now empty, they only had the small bottles. I'm running JT Apple Harvest now.

That chemical smell is suppose to be like a lime lemon scent. It's recommended to run Eliminator 3 fills then add whatever scent you want. I do a run and a fill when I'm done running for the night that way you let Eliminator sit in the wick overnight and do that 2 more times. One other thing I do if I want to cut the scent back is I put 2 or 3 drops of say; "Vanilla" and 15 drops of "Nada"    As far as a stocking stuffer This is a good combination for the holiday's

Great I will try that...the wife doesn't want ANY smell at all.  But when she's gone shopping or whatnot, I'd sure love to try that new "campfire" scent...

Actually, I have been looking at putting a smoke unit in the cab of a tractor trailer.  I think I could get one inside a 1:43 cab, but not a 1:50, which is the scale I ultimately went with.  But I plan to look at some smoke units made of HO (I assume someone makes some) - that would be awesome.

That would be AWESOME, and I for one will be waiting.
