OK, this is a hard one. I'm building a single stall engine house in my mountain area that represents the engine house in Avery on the electrified section of the Rocky Mountain Division. It's for helper box cab units or a Little Joe. Here's the question. I've only seen black & white pictures of the house, does anyone know what color the engine house was painted. Your prize money is being held by Price Waterhouse. That's for you old timers. Thanks Don

Looks like a dark red or red-brown - boxcar red, mineral red, Tuscan? Anyway, here it is. The photo is from the Morning Sun book, "Under Milwaukee Wires." I'd say the photo in the book looks a bit redder than it shows up on my computer screen. If you'd like a bigger image, I can e-mail the scan to you.

Yikes, they were painted white.........I think I'll not do white and do depot yellow with brown trim like some of their stations. I guess I get the money. Don
Don,
Hi John, where's my million?
So, Marvin Miller is on board, for tonight.
I guess, you will have to figure out the contrast shades of your B&W photo., for the engine house colors.
Your choice of colors sounds great, I did a tower in those colors and it appeared prototypical to one at my local RR.

SW I have that book. I'm just getting lazy in retirement. I found a color picture of it in white. They must have changed it at some point. I like the brown/red much better. I'll just have to do some test to see what's better. It won't be white. I'm building a better looking building. It's not exactly like the real one but it's long enough for two box cabs or a Joe. Thanks all and RJL it was nice to see old Marvin again. Don
