I had a recent conversations with a friendly rep from RMT concerning an order and it appears that there is a finite supply of old KLine stuff that is sold under the OLine label (yellow and black boxes). Everything over the last few years is old inventory from Chinese warehouses. Nothing new is being made.

I had redone my 12' by 9' layout with old KLine supersnap track. If I ever plan for any expansion I'll have more and more difficulty in getting additional tracks, especially curves. So if anybody needs any KLine beter get it soon.

Wow, I was going to post on this last week but felt it needed more study.

K-line mystery

Sounds crazy, but… on occasion I have stumbled upon O scale K-line cars I’d never seen in the past. These are in the black and yellow boxes. This one has a date listed as 2018. I often thought that someone is secretly still making and selling them at random. There have been several uncatalogued roads recently with-in the past few years that have appeared. Lionel and RMT I thought had the molds, could someone have another set? Your thoughts?

My understanding is that K-Line had a lot of uncatalogued items that were made, and a lot of catalogued items that were not made.  They also made changes during their runs, at least on the scale passenger cars.  For example, the K-Line 21" Great Northern Empire Builder sets had a couple of different sleeper variations that I have seen.

Some cars are offered in the yellow and black boxes which have a brand other than K-Line.  Scale size cars with details, same yellow and black boxes but not the K-Line brand. I do not have a picture to share.  John in Lansing, ILL

Aren't those the O-Line products?  It seems that the broad range of K-Line products ended when Lionel shut down the K-Line by Lionel brand name.

There was an O line but not these cars that I am seeing...…………….

Here is the ( K-LINE ) box that was on ebay.

Listing description information dates on several cars was shown as 2018 from the guy in PA.

I'm talking strictly about true "O" K-Line freight cars in this type of box. I cant state a case for anything else. Also nothing to do with Lionel.

Tons of K-Line cars in that box style, nothing unusual about that.  I believe that color scheme was for their scale sized cars if I remember correctly.  I know I have a bunch of K-Line rolling stock that came in those boxes.  FWIW, I think the seller is mistaken about the year, that's all.  The car from the same run is represented here, made in 2003, which is about right for that car.

It's always possible that some Chinese manufacturer can decide to turn out new product if it is profitable enough and they have access to the molds in question. I am sure there is a market for the supersnap track because I believe they are superior to the Lionel track and look better in my opinion.  I do have a few 0Line cars as they seem a bit cheaper than other brands.
