The legacy version? It has whistle steam effect-yes it's worth it.

You won't be disappointed. Legacy Berkshires are awesome. I have the previous Polar run. For a Polar Express fan, this new run has the large pilot plus you get the whistle steam effect which is a nice addition. If I didn't have the original, I'd be in for this.
Here is a video of mine so you can see it and hear the sounds. I'm running in conventional; thats why the sounds restart when going from idle to forward.
Eddie, be sure to check out our pre-order price on both of them. Thanks Charlie...
Even if it didn't offer new features it would be worth the money. The PM 1225 was nearly impossible to find this past couple years and drew higher prices than what you'd now pay at Charlie Nassau for the new model. I love everything about my PM Berk. It's a star of my layout. Sounds great, very strong, very smooth at super slow speed.
Here's a video of mine running in my Christmas layout.

Answer: Probably
What would change that to definitely?
Making an accurate train to go with it.
Yes, yes, I know this is a special kind of mental affliction that has me rivet counting an animated train, but at least... at least... gimme the right observation car on the end.
:-)
Has anyone found out if the scale Polar Express tender has the same movie dialog sounds as the original release?
Was there anything about it in the paper version of the catalog, vs. the Lionel web site?
Dave
The 1225 Berkshire with matching PE Heavyweight cars have been something that has been requested for a long time. Lionel also included the much sought after Observation car. You will not be disappointed.
