Are there any locomotives that you think Lionel, MTH, Atlas, 3rd Rail, or other O-Scale (or even S-Scale, for those who have S-Scale trains) companies should make? Are there any remakes that you want to see? Let me know what your top 5 locomotives on your wishlist are. I guess I'll start. Hopefully someone from the model train companies is listening.

#1 on my wishlist: Lionel VisionLine Siemens Charger

#2: Scale ET44AC/ET44C4

#3: Scale SD70ACe-T4

#4: VisionLine UP 3rd Generation "Big Blow" Gas Turbine

#5: ATSF SD45-2; including the Bicentennial livery and BNSF SD32ECO rebuild version with correct engine sounds

New:

  1. Western Maryland 4-8-4 Potomac 1:48 scale
  2. Conrail GE C39-8 “Humpback” 1:48 scale

Re-runs:

  1. Lionel Scale PRR T1 (de-skirted)
  2. Lionel Vision Line PRR GG1 #4800 “Ol’ Rivets”
  3. MTH Premier Conrail EMD SD80MAC

For the diesel locomotives, the trucks should not have blind wheels on the axles closest to the fuel tank. Blind wheels on the center axles are acceptable.

For the steam locomotives, they should have command control, whistle steam, modern high quality sound sets, and real coal loads. Reciprocating cylinder steam smoke would be much appreciated, but not required.

NH I-5 streamlined Hudson

B&O P-7d streamlined Pacific

C&O Kanawha, with the proper low headlight (specifically 2716, including versions in the CSX scheme used when she was transported to Ravena)

SD-40-3 and GP-40-2 in Aberdeen Carolina and Western scheme

generally more short line paint schemes.

Your Aberdeen Carolina and Western engines just might get scheduled for production in the near future with LCCA coming to town in 2023 and also due to the recent popularity of those Lionel F units.

Still hoping for a D&H Challenger; great lines, great history,  There is some old Weaver tooling out there somewhere.  They were made a long time ago in 2 and 3 rail.  Anyone here have one to show us?

It is the last item on my O gauge bucket list.

I do have one. 3rd rail made this model in extremely limited quantities. This is #93 of 96, not sure if that’s total or 3R by road number. This was my “holy grail” for a long time. Id still love to find the other road number. This one will either get upgraded to err cruise or a full legacy upgrade. Unless Lionel did a brass hybrid, I don’t think we’ll ever see these again. Scott said they didn’t sell well so very unlikely they’d be redone.

Here’s my list

New: 1) Rutland green hornet 2) Central Vermont 2-10-4 3) VTR GP38-2s and GP40s 4) Green Mountain legacy mogul 5) VTR and Green Mountain S4 6) VTR sw1500

Rerun: 1) D&H challenger 2) Rutland RS3s & RS1s 3) Rutland & CV mogul with the improved gearbox 3) VTR RS3s 4) PRR N1 2-10-2 5) Rutland light mikado

Things I missed, slept on, or didn’t think I could/should afford or the aftermarket price has gotten ridiculous IMO:

1) Vision Line Hudson.  Super detailed with all the bells and whistles.

2) Metra anything commuter related.

3) CNW bi-level cars. Not a locomotive but k-line and MTH have become unobtainable. Make the cab car with a motor so you can have a dummy f unit in the rear and now it’s a locomotive.

4) That Lionel 3751/3759 that was blown-out at like $750.  Still kicking myself for missing this. And a deal like this will never happen again.

5) Santa Fe FP45. With dummy option that is reasonably priced. I think 3rd Rail might have this coming, but before 2026?  Lol. Good news is maybe by 2026 we will also have a new transformer and handheld remote to run it that less expensive than the engine itself, but I’m not holding my breath.

I have no place to put any more engines, plus no need for them, but if these were made or made again, I might consider getting one.  All are SCALE.  All of these models were in operation during my layout's era.

1) PRR T1 production version, late with no portholes.  Not the skirted prototype MTH made a gazillion of, but the 2000 scale version from Lionel.

2) PRR B8a 0-8-0T.  PRR specific tank engine.

3) PRR K5.  If Lionel can build one offs like the S1, S2, and CC1, why not an engine that had two made.

4) PRR N2sa.  The Pennsy had 130 of these, lasting into the 50s.

5) PRR H20-44.  Need a diesel road switcher.
