Todd,

Now that is a major bummer, the 263E in the Picture is the MTH P2, I wanted a Legacy also, to go with my original Lionel Conventional.  Things here in Pa are fine, with a little snow, coming into Thanksgiving and Christmas, hope all is well in Cal, enjoy the warm weather and sun shine, I do miss Presidio and the great view.

Sunrise,

Thanks for the info, I was hoping Lionel would also produce some Legacy Tin to mix with my originals and repro MTH.

You could get close. Get an older can motor MTH conventional unit and ditch the e-unit. Then get a cruise commander from electricRR along with one of their new railsounds boards. You could also just gut one of the PS2 units so you would have the smoke. Set the newly installed cruise commander to 100 speed steps and you would be really close.

Cpt,

Jeff I thought about doing what you described, decided it would be better to invest in some more of the MTH P2 repro's down the line instead.  After I get totally addicted to the Lionel Legacy then I might have Guns or one of the other guys, like GGG, retro fit an old 263E with the Legacy controls, that is if I can find an original 263E at a train show in good shape, for decent money.

I do like your thinking however!

It's still a bummer that Lionel is not producing some Tin Plate Legacy engines, I would really like a Lionel made Legacy 263E, to go along with my original Lionel Conventional and my MTH P2 Reproduction.  These trains have always been a major part of my Christmas season memories.  Love to add a new Legacy controlled 263E to it.
