Art,
I hope that everything is okay with you.
IMO, it might help to put "Brute" in the For Sale Title. I had to look at your recent postings to find it.
Good luck with the sale.
Doc:
We are seriously thinking about selling our depot/home at Bear Creek and I do not have room for the Brute set at my Nashville residence. I am on dialysis and have two heart stents, and most of my doctors and medical support system is located in Nashville, TN. My biggest set here is a 400E and three state cars!
NICE tinplate and NICE trestle - THANKS for sharing!
I can imagine that was a difficult decision for you Art, we all know how long you waited to get that set. I hope everything works out for the best.
Take care,
John.
THANKS for all your kind thoughts!
Art
Sorry to hear that you might sell Bear Creek Depot but fully understand the health circumstances. In a similar situtuation we have placed our Banner Elk home for sale, located several miles up the mountain range from you. Fortunately I dismantled the 14x32 operation there in March 2008 prior to a "small" stroke that has since significantly curtailed my model railroading.
Over time you have been a real trooper in dealing with your health and a great Forum contributer to our model railroad dialogue and knowledge as well as relaying your experiences on the steam deck.
I empathize with your love for the mountains and Bear Creek Depot but I also know that Nashville is a great place to reside. I look forward to your continued Forum participation and wish you all the best.
Sorry to hear that Art, but being closer to health care makes life much easier. You waited a long time for the Brute , and I will miss updates about her. But something else will take her place I bet. Good luck and I will say a prayer for an easy move.

Although we have help in maintaining the three acres at Bear Creek, which includes two ponds, a concrete dam/spillway, and creek frontage on two creeks, at age 70, it is a little more than I can manage. My main health care facility is St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, and my vascular clinic is also located there. When you have an access for hemodialysis, it sometimes requires maintenance (angioplasty). Although I can dialyze in Cherokee (on the reservation), the nearest vascular clinic is 90 miles away in Ashville.
My train layout in Nashville is located in a spare bedroom, and my largest standard gauge diameter is 72". The Brute and the Showroom cars really look better on 84" diameter track.
The shipping cost of the Brute and Showroom cars would be about $150, so a trip to NC from a surrounding state would probably not use that much gas. I would ideally like to sell this set in person, thus also avoiding any potential shipping damage to these VERY HEAVY items!
I will assist in packing the FOUR cars and the engine. If you are close to Western North Carolina, please call me at 615-418-8112 or e-mail me at SOU722@aol.com
The price is $3000 cash or certified check ONLY.
Hey Art I'm sorry you are in this situation it must be tough. What you say makes good sense though. I'm sure it will sell quickly and I hope you continue to do well. You do have plenty of other treasures to run.
Art,
I'm sorry to hear this, but the health has to come first. When you get back to Nashville, shoot me an email at hjkjr@charter.net and we can get together for lunch. I enjoyed the lunches and conversations we had a lot.

Art,
Maybe someone you know close to you is going to York in a couple of weeks. I am pretty sure that someone may be interested in it that is going to York, but not wiling to drive to where you are.
I am out because it won't fit through my Bridge
Unfortunately, the sheer size of this set is a disadvantage for many layouts.
