By way of reading Syd's request for help with his Unique Arts diesels, it got me to pondering that the overwhelming majority of tinplate motive power is steam. I suppose that is due to the age of tinplate coinciding with the age of steam. I know Marx survived long enough to produce lithographed diesels and Unique Art for a time, but are there other examples? Perhaps from across the pond?
The another question popped into my head..what was the very last lithographed tinplate train set made in the U.S? What year was that?
Perhaps inquiring minds want to know. Maybe nobody knows. My guess as rough as it is would be perhaps the last set coincided with the introduction of toy safety regulations...
