TMCC Crane with Legacy Remote - What am I doing wrong????

Sam you need to look at the owner's manual for the crane and it will show you in detail how you set it up and operate not the legacy manual. 

This particular crane was made before there was Legacy. There's nothing in the crane manual about it.

Sam your cab2 will set up the sameway i just looked at the cab2 manual. The crane manual will tell you how to set it up.

Thanks Chessie! I just figured out that the lever inside the cab was somehow disengaged. Before I was only trying to swing the cab, which was the cause of my frustration. Once I went back and reprogrammed, then accidentally hit the boom up, I was shocked to see the boom move. Now everything seems to be working great.

   Now that I have gotten into legacy I was thinking about one of these  Lionel operating Crane Cars, Crane Cars happen to be my favorite rolling stock, would love to have an operating one.  Is Lionel making a Legacy Crane Car, or do I need to find a TMCC Crane Car to add to my layout.

Yes Dave lionel is making a legacy crane. They are in the new catalogs but not sure if they are being made yet.

The Legacy CAB2 has a great crane engine type that has graphics on the keypad for all the crane functions.  It's a great accessory, one of the best that Lionel has ever done!

You might have discovered or re-discovered this already but when setting up a TMCC crane in Legacy you need to set the "Type" to - guess what? - "crane" and those graphics/icons John refers to will appear. They are a lot easier to manage than the old TMCC commands although everything is in the same place.

A nice bunch of Legacy cranes is due out next month.

Just so I am clear about this new Legacy Crane, this is rolling stock is it not, and will it come in different road names?  I was hoping for a real neat working Crane Car, be especially nice if Lionel made a Legacy Union Railroad operating Crane Car for the Legacy Meadow River Shay engine to pull.

The new crane will be the same as the TMCC crane car, it's a fully functional car with the associated sound boom car.

   Looks like I need to look at this Legacy Crane Car a little closer and maybe pre-order it from Patrick or Charlie.  Being able to operate this stuff from the Cab2 is way cool,

never dreamed I would live long enough to see this kind of stuff developed for O gauge

trains.  I only dreamed of this kind of remote control when I was a kid, now we actually have it.  Waited all my life to see this kind of remote control engines & rolling stock, I love the engineering.

It's a very neat accessory, you can spend a lot of time tinkering with this one.

My advice is to forget about the outriggers unless they've greatly improved them in the Legacy version, which I doubt.  Not only are they troublesome to deploy and retract, but after you deploy them, you have to manually stick the stands under them anyway!  For the light stuff the crane is capable of picking up, I don't have an issue running it without them.

   Is there a Tin Plate version coming out?  A 810 Legacy Crane Car would be just fantastic.

I've never seen or heard of a tinplate version, but who knows.

I have the TMCC MOW version, so I didn't go for the Legacy one.  Near as I can tell, it's going to be the same crane with perhaps some enhanced sounds in the boom car.  Harry Henning is getting one, so I can look at his and see what's new.

Pine, did you miss the point Handcock made about programming your Legacy remote for the crane Icons? Or am I not reading something here correctly?
I don't see how buying a legacy version would be any more cooler than the crane you already have. Setting up the Legacy remote with the special icons makes any TMCC crane and boom car so much easier to operate and its still a blast to operate.

   Unfortunately I do not have the TMCC Crane car either, hence I will invest in the new Legacy when it comes out.
