Upgrade for Legacy remote

I am sure this has been discussed at length somewhere but I need to upgrade my remote an base. I have not run my trains in over two years because of work / kids,no permanent layout anymore, etc. How do you do it? The last upgrade I had was from the factory after they repaired the remote back in the bigboy days.

Not really sure what version I have but it did go to Lionel for the original upgrade back in the day. So I have a GS-4 and soon a GG1 and I know there was an upgrade with each new engine, but I was probably several behind before these new upgrades. So can I skip right to the latest version or do I need to install all the missing versions?

Any way help needed.

I believe you can go from 1.3 to the latest, definitely 1.4 can go to the latest 1.6.

You can go from 1.2 or later to any valid Legacy version.

I, too, noticed, v.1.6.1 for the Cab 2 only. Not reading any posts about it, I emailed Lionel to see what their response is about it.

Carl, it had to do with the sensor track and tmcc engines. The thread was earlier in the month and for the remote only. I'll post link when I can.

Thanks, makes sense. If you don't have a sensor car or sensor track, you can probably live without it and use v.1.6.0
