Upgrading Older (1999) that are Command Ready

How did it run prior to the conversion?  I believe there are jumpers that need to be moved, though I am not sure they would cause this symptom.  G

The install was done correctly as far as the upgrade, it just is irradic.

If something is dirty, someone please direct me to what to clean.  The rollers, below have been cleaned.

If install was right and engine worked properly before the conversion, I would swap out the R2LC and see if that fixes it.  G

No expert here but what did you enter into the Cab2?  Are you running on TMCC mode?  

I would make sure you got the right boards.  On my first upgrade of a command ready Alco C420 I got the wrong board from my supplier even though I gave him all the correct info, I forget which board, and it was a clustercluck till a forum member suggested I got the wrong board.  My C420 had all new technology for the time, same circa as yours, consisting of LED lights, and it had to be the specific command ready board to make everything right.  Since the use of can motors along with TMCC was kind of new to Lionel engines in '99, I suspect you have a wrong board, not one designed specifically for a 'command ready' engine.

BTW- I'm still buddies with my parts supplier and have bought a bunch more conversion parts from him since, including another command ready C420.  That one went a whole lot smoother.  It should be plug and play, so I stand by my conclusion.  Doublecheck the boards you installed.  Good Luck.

I did try Cab 1 and you were right!  It did work out the many rotations on the remote.  I also did a stall fix and that helped as well.  It's not Odessy but it does work much nicer now.... Thank you!  You also taught me a valuable lesson on programming a non-TMCC Engine in TMCC.

That's great.  I'm still in TMCC and didn't notice your Cab2 reference.  That makes sense.  Details, it's always about the details... enjoy your new command equipped engine.  It's like bringing something to life.
