I was running my Jets proto 2 engine today at a show and the sounds went out. I can faintly hear them and the volume pot is turned up to the max. Is there a reset I can use with the Z4000 transformer? I have a BCR in it and it does run forward and reverse but no sounds. I hear a click sound when I power up the track to about 10 or so volts to charge it.

There is a conventional factory and feature reset using a combination of horn / whistle commands. This did not work for me when this same thing happened. The speaker actually blew in mine. You may get intermittent sound, but you may need a new speaker. Also, if the speaker is flaking, make sure no metal flakes get in the electronics.
For the conventional commands, try the MTH website for the engine manual. Actually, any PS/2 manual should do.

That would be a logical answer to check the speaker in the tender. I have the engine manual for it.

Checked the speaker and it is fine with 4 ohms and continuity. Going to try reading the manual for the reset feature. If not, it is off to my friend, Pat Rolland, in Philadelphia who is a MTH service guy,
