I have several Weaver cars from a club car custom run program on another forum. Weaver makes up the majority of my rolling stock collection. The Conrail H30 hopper was given to me by Joe Hayter as a thank you for filling in at the product introduction at the TCA Museum. Our club cars featured fallen flag roads, and tongue in cheek text specific to our forum.

Some great looking Weaver Power units as well as that beautiful Rolling Stock. I didn’t know Weaver made so many different Steam Engines. Great Job!!
Here's another Weaver steam engine...a brass 0-6-0 switcher factory weathered by the folks at Weaver long before I started to do my own work.
And here are a few Weaver 40' box cars that I "3-rail-scaled" and weathered...

This shows there are a lot of Weaver fans out there. I'll have to post a few of my favorites when I get a chance. CLEM K your pic could be a crown model. Do you have the original packaging. When Weaver purchased the tooling from Crown Models they did offer a number of the same cars Crown Models produced...........Paul
Some more models from Weaver, I really enjoy the quality of those brass models and they can be purchased for a very fair price.

In the late mid-80's rolled back to O-gauge buying stuff use-to going back to the late 40's. Lionel remakes of 6464's and K-Line's versions. By late 80's had bought four Williams brass steam engine and two MTH scale diesels. That is when the Weaver scale box cars caught my eye especially since they made so many Pennsy cars. Have a total of 56 of their box cars, 33 Pennsy. Somewhere have a box of a 120 die cast Bettendorf trucks to replace the plastic ones.
The last one was this B&O round top.
The one before this was a Pennsy double door box. Both of these very highly decorated.
Oh Mark, two are Western Maryland one with the "Speed Ball."

I only have a couple of their locos, both of which I've shown before, but what the heck:
These both came to me as 3 rail engines; since that was before I started dabbling in "high rail", I purchased the conversion kits from NorthWest ShortLine and now they are set up for 2 rail. These are the earlier design with the centrally located can motor with shaft drive. Both run very well; nice and quiet.

Lee at the time the Weaver cars were the best scale cars going especially for the money. Albeit the cost was lower because of the plastic trucks. I was at the local dealer one day when he was on the phone with Weaver saying that his customers would gladly pay the extra 10-dollars for die-cast. If recalling correctly Weaver told die-cast trucks for about $13 a set then.

I sure wouldn’t mind finding another #28057 custom run Mechandise Service Boxcar with the return to Jeannette Gass on it. I grew up in Jeannette PA, the Glass City, and knew plenty of people who worked at Jeannette Glass.

I have a 2 Weaver engines, both RS units in Army livery with TMCC. Here is one....
Weaver engines with TMCC were a great value.....I'd love to know where the light consolidation molds went.....I never got around to getting one.....
What I also loved about Weaver engines was the packing...it was fantastic! I always would say that one would be fortunate to be buried in a Weaver box.....
I have a few TOFCs and army flats that I have put loads on and 2 box cars, both of which I treasure.....
A B&O round roof box car and a Delta Lines box car....Here's a pic of the Delta Lines car....it happens to be out on the layout....

Awesome thread. I miss Weaver. I have 47 of the "coal goes to war" PRR 2 bay hoppers from Jims train shop. I am always looking for road #'s that I don't have. If anyone out there has any for sale, let Me know. Also, does anyone know how I access the complete list of freight cars that Weaver ever made. I have seen this list in the past, but now I cant seem to locate it now.
How It's Made on the Science Channel did an episode on model trains, and they took all the video from the Weaver Factory here in the US:

Joe. That’s ok I hope this post will still be here whe you get some more.
Rail. Thanks for the info and that’s a nice pic of the Switcher. Is the old Weaver building still there just wondering.
The thing I like most about Weaver open hoppers, is that no matter the style, the inside dimensions were the same. No need to make several different bases for coal loads like Lionel MTH and Atlas. I started making loads for Weaver 2 bay hoppers for a club car project in 2011. Our group did a Reading 2 bay hopper.

I have a few Weaver items......... The banner is from the sale when joe closed the factory. I believe it is the one joe used for the booth he would setup at shows. Joe could answer this better. That fall after joe closed I moved to Louisiana. Most of my weaver stuff came with me which is what you see in these pictures. The original weaver factory started in town in northumberland on Wheatley Avenue. The test shot bodies are actually from the gentleman who started doing the injection molding for Bob originally. He was located just up old route 11 from the factory beside the VFW in a little garage. He had a small machine shop and at least when I met him two molding machines; like a 125 ton vandorn and another machine which I can’t remember the size. It was honestly just a little two car garage. I can’t remember his last name, but his first name I believe was Charley? Molding was also done by Boyer machine in Northumberland as well. I believe that is where the how it’s made footage was shot. The plastic sign was actually from when joe had donated some engines and rolling stock to our local club. He had done this for other clubs as well.

PRRRONBH,
I think you might have a silver PRR Express reefer that Weaver did for me with red and black printing. I had the car done with four famous PRR passenger train names. I think the names on the cars were, The Broadway Limited, The Red Arrow, The Duquesne. and GG-1 Service. Each car, had three different town names on it were the train stopped. Like Jeannette, Greensburg, and Latrobe. Another one had and Torrance, Bolivar and Johnstown. The Red Arrow had names Cresson, Gallitzin and Altoona. The GG-1 Service one had Harrisburg, Lancaster and Philadelphia. Sorry, But I do not have a picture of this express reefer.

Hello Jim, it has been a while. I think the last time we spoke is when I ordered my DAP NS ABBA OCS f-units and An UP 9000,
No these two cars I have are defiantly not reefers! They are from the same molds as the Weaver PRR Merchantise car you had made with box car doors and all my other 50 some Weaver box cars. Plus I do have three Weaver steel body reefers so have a direct comparison.
Have not found any prototype pictures. But surmise that just maybe Pennsy actually did this in the early 50's when SS passenger consist came in. These may have been paint to somewhat the SS cars. Silver bodies with the red band for front end "Express Service", only a guess.
Ron
Ron,
The cars, I mentioned were done on box car bodies. I would bet this is what you have.
One of the last sets of Weaver, I purchased from Jim Yellow dots are Weaver Cars. Without the yellow dot, also Weaver un-decorated, with Dry-transfer decals.
Some of the coal loads are also Weaver.
The locomotive is MTH; the cars are Weaver. Two are OGR commemorative cars I recently acquired and 2-railed, while the one on the end is an unusual one I picked up as an un-built Weaver kit about a year ago. I had been doing some track testing and sat them here temporarily as some visitors were curious about the OGR cars and UP1943.

Some great looking stuff you guys are posting. Thanks for taking the time to post your pics.
My wife and I went on the Weaver tour back in 2004. Here is a picture of the special tour car we picked up during our visit to the factory.
This St. Mary's Brewing Co. car was in the process of being decorated while we were touring the factory. We liked this car but we were told it wasn't available yet. So of course when it became available we bought one. Maybe from Jim's Train Shop?
Some time later at a train show the 2003 tour car was for sale. Bought it too. One of those purchases that later on you wonder why.
I have now posted pictures of all the Weaver cars I currently have. There were others, but they were sold.

PRRRONBH,
I know Andy Petersen bought a case of (12). As far as the car being fantasy I'm not sure. I think Pennsy had this car but not with the names of towns on it. Your friends could of bought this car from Mr. Petersen. The three towns that I chose for this car the PRR railroad ran through all three. Torrance, PA. is one of the locations my father took me to to watch the trains when I was a boy. It was just about 14 miles south of Homer City. One of my repair people lived in Bolivar PA. Johnstown, PA. was were a lot of my customers were from.

This just may explain where Rich got these. He bought from Petersen, in fact many of the Weaver boxes had Petersen labels stuck on.

Yes !! Though, this model, takes a lot of creative liberty with the real #29. The story of these 2-8-0's, was one of economic disaster. Sanda Kan had made these for K-line, who declared bankruptcy. Weaver, I assume, got them for a bargain, they were a good buy, from Weaver, at the time. Paint and final detail, done by Weaver??

So caught up in the box cars (Do not know what I like better box cars or passenger cars) forgot about the fourteen Weaver pieces still have.
There are two two-bay Pennsy coal hoppers just perfect for spotting coal delivery just under the Lionel concrete coal tower (just over the coal hopper for this type tower).
But most notable three steam locos. One (no Pic) the Southern Ps4 #1380 pictured earlier here. The other two:
The Pennsy C1 (frame right),
and Pennsy K4 Torpedo,

Last of my Weaver car's, all 3 rail. The Orange juice car has the sounds, white does not. The GP38-2 shell on the long flat car was the original shell. Gary made the shell and left the northshore name off it so I could put my DL&W decals on. The tmcc radio board failed one Christmas and it took a swan dive nose first 4 feet down to the floor. It got serious air hang time too.

what a great find! I never knew they made that one glad you posted it and got it. I’m still looking for the “Riss” piggyback and the Yale
Lee, the Phoebe Snow was a special run done by Weaver for Bob Thatcher of AM hobbies a long time ago. My list of hard to finds is of about 4 or 5 more cars done by Eaver before they closed. .......Paul
Thank you Paul for the insite of the piggyback. Who or what was the car runs that read REA return to Sam car shop I think?? Need some help on this one I think I seen a car that had that
Yes I do agree.
Here are some of my remaining Weaver items. I've sold most of the freight cars I had because they did not fit my layout's era.

Thank you for posting those beautiful weaver models I really like that tucker boxcar never knew they made that one that’s what I like about this thread I started I’m really finding out stuff that Weaver never made and also special runs thank you guys for replying and taking the time showing off your stuff
Lee,
I think by now, you understand just what Weaver Models meant to all of us. I had the last 13 years they were in business. But for some, it all started when they opened their doors. On any given day they were open, you could walk in the front door and ask for a tour. They would get someone and give you the tour, answer any question you asked them. They would show what ever you wanted to see, pad printing, painting, building the freight cars, building the diesel engines, building the freight trucks, the computer cad drawings for any car they had or were working on, computer cad drawings to make the pad printing plates. They would even let you build your own freight car and guide you to completion and you putting it in the box for you to take home. You could not do that at Atlas, K-line, Lionel, MTH or Williams. The customer service was 100% all day everyday. They were not the biggest, but they sure were the best. Some on here didn't like them, or had a bad experience that left a bad taste in their mouth. I liked everything Weaver Models stood for, there are plenty of people on this forum who worked with Joe to get hundreds of freight cars, diesel paint schemes, Brass engines made. I was fortunate enough to be one of those, I helped Joe in making the only blueprint scale Brass DL&W steam engine in O scale. Plus the final push in getting the only blueprint scale Brass DL&W caboose. The caboose project was already on the table he said. I showed him pictures that he could paint the caboose not only in DL&W but Erie Lackawanna and Conrail too. Three different paint schemes for one model was worth the money he said. The memories are nice Lee, but I still wish Weaver Models was open for business.
Pete
thanks for the more insite of Weaver models. I like that you could make you own model. I call one time to order a TOFC trailer the lady who took my order was so nice one of the nicest people in this Business after taking my order I told her I was from Missouri and said that there was a dealer in St. Louis they had a whole Lot of Weaver Models in his warehouse it was Jd trains. She said if I wanted to I could still order direct or go visit Jeff so I went to St. Louis one weekend and visited him in the warehouse it was just amazing with all Weaver and atlas rolling stock and power units but he was gone a lot because of his job and it was hard for him at the time to work and keep his warehouse up I think he eventually went out of business I still today go by there when I’m delivering containers and think of the times when I would go to his warehouse which was only a couple times, like you I really like Weaver models and I always will.
DL&W Pete,
My experience with Weaver over thirty years was great! I can't count the number of very affordable pieces of Weaver rolling stock and engines in eastern PA paint schemes in my collection. They eventually made my dreams come true with the making of the DL&W Poconos ( I have two) and the Keyser Cabeese ( I have three different versions). Walking through the plant was fun and they were most helpful in solving the very few problems I experienced.
After all these years these engines are among some of my best running and trouble free. I'm in the process of adding ERR to several of them, making a great product even better. Great results so far!
Thanks for being part of their legacy.
Earl
Thanks Earl for posting. I like there smooth running engines I have only 2 a RS11 and a RS12 both are great

I love those Baltics too and have a pair of them, real beauties. I have most of the Milwaukee Road offerings that Weaver produced over the years.

My parents house was along a railroad in Broadview, Illinois (give you one guess which one), and as kids we would watch trains go by, and our favorite was the 'smiling goat'. About a year ago, I finally found a reasonably priced Weaver Great Northern boxcar, green, with a smiling goat. Only, its a 50' and no roof walk! Today, I find out Weaver made what looks like a PS-1 boxcar as well.

I have 56 total Weaver pieces, including 43 PS-1 Boxcars, the full 49er Set (Brass Engine upgraded to PS2.0, the 5 Car Passenger Set, and the 2 Car Add On), a C&O 2-8-0, the UP 4-8-4 #8444 (as shown in my earlier video), 7 C&O Hopper Cars, and 2 Troop Cars. Here is a short video of the 2-8-0 pulling a string of 18 PS-1 Cars. I don't have a Weaver Caboose, otherwise this would be a 100% Weaver Consist.
Thought you all might appreciate this one. Weaver did a special run of their VO-1000 for the PP&L Actitivies Committee about a 15 years ago or so. It looks good with the other PP&L rolling stock including the caboose posted by others within this string. The caboose was also a special run for the committee. They also did a run of 3 oil tankers. I am told that PP&L never used them for oil, but rather filled them with cement as a counterweight? But this is a neat little engine. I have many other pieces of Weaver rolling stock (note the Reading and D&H in the background), and really miss their products.

That's an MTH GP38-2, Bob, the fans are close together. The Weaver GP38-2 (based on earlier 38s) has fans spaced further apart like Reading GP39-2s that I'm converting one into. The VO-1000 is great, I've got one I'm painting into SMS (the NJ switching RR).
Jason
Thanks Jason - good eye and you’re absolutely right. I was actually referring to the piece of D&H rolling stock behind the Reading. BTW, the MTH D&H GP38-2 is my favorite engine. You know, it’s just one of those that just seems to glide around the track effortlessly! Good luck on your project.
