I usually try to think of something new to add to my Christmas layout each year.  Since I no longer buy engines or rolling stock, that leaves scenery type things.

This year my project is to add stringed telephone poles.  Here's my first 2 attempts.

In  my first effort, I strung the line and glued it to each pole at those little nubs that stick up.

for my second, and now preferred method, I attached the 'wire' to the base at each end and merely strung it along the top of the poles.  No glue.  When You have a temporary layout such as I do, doing things that are easily transferred to other years is always my approach.  this does that

Here are a few of my shots from my York trip (my York haul pix are in the thread in the York section of the forum).  We went out a day earlier than normal to check out the new Purple Hall Pre-Show (and now it looks like the new normal ), so we had two afternoons / evenings to roam about the area seeking out train fun.  We ended up going to Strasburg both days (Tuesday and Wednesday).  On Tuesday, we visited the National Toy Train Museum, Choo Choo Barn, and Strasburg Train Shop (a good place, in addition to Nicholas Smith and now Mega-Steam, to get Arttista figures):

On Wednesday, we went back to Strasburg to visit the Pennsylvania RR Museum (they are closed Tuesdays), and got to watch them move a new addition into the building:

"Old Rivets" was looking kind of sad sitting outside.  Hopefully they take note of the B&O Museum's plans for AFT #1 and restore the first GG1 to its Bicentennial paint scheme for the upcoming 250th celebrations:

Also, as a fan of Weaver's H30 hoppers, I took notice of these markings on the one they have sitting out in their yard:

Anybody know what kind of poison this would have been hauling?  Mapleton's big industry seems to brick making and silica products.  Perhaps some kind of industrial waste from this process?

And it was nice to see the Meet itself up on the fairgrounds' digital signs (this is the one by Blue Hall):

Working on the signal extension covers that Alan 3D printed for me.  The upper level doesn't have enough side room for signals in two places so we had to build extensions to support them.  This picture is on the one at my East Bristol location.

A few examples of European rolling stock (made in Italy by Lima in the '70's-80's?) entered my collection last week.

There are bound to be some... "adjustments" to be made

Humor aside, I'm thinking of ways to produce an adapter that clips onto the Lima coupler that would allow it to link to a standard knuckle coupler, much like the old 1970's Atlas dummy couplers did. (it'll have to be fabricated out of styrene since I don't have access to 3D printing).

I love the captions!    Earlier this year a bunch of HO European passenger cars somehow "found" their way into my collection (read auction bargains).  Mostly Fleischmann, but not all of it!  This is an odd piece that I need to do a little research on.

You too?  I got one at the Chicago meet in March, non Pennsy.  But, we can't talk Scott into Train Masters.  Maybe we are the only two interested.

I think there are more than the two of us interested!  I've been pushing for one along with a few others.  Maybe another voice?  I'm looking to add at least 2 to my CNJ side of the 2-rail fleet.
