Two Korber structures in process

WOW,
Pecos?
John. I would say if you paint this up right It will look good!
There have been a few threads about Berkshires so I thought I'd post a few of our Lionel No 3315 ERIE on the old layout..
This is a good opportunity to show the difference between ScaleTrax and Gargraves. The Erie is running on ScaleTrax and appears more massive due to to the overall smaller size and lower height of the track. Viewed from a low angle the ties appear scale sized/spaced as well. Let the Erie go in a trade a few years ago...
Wish I had hung onto it but was later able to replace it with No 2696 C&O - Both beauties!
The Gargraves track appears clunky and vastly oversized making the locomotive appear smaller and less imposing....
Some classic Post War:
Snagged a 624 C&O switcher this week. Runs like a top and is in good shape cosmetically.
This was a club car several years ago. It's a Weaver with custom printed crates.

This week, the layout had a little New York & Long Branch Flavor -
Picked up a new MPC reefer -
Got this for $50 -
Double VGN FMs - MPC up front & PWC trailing ( was fixing the MPC one for a friend)
2351 Milwaukee Road EP5 - 57 years young - still polishing the rails -
Fun time w/ the kids -
Due to a power shortage in Linwood, the normally nocturnal 155 rolls through Fort Mill, SC around 1:30 PM in the pouring rain w/ an ex UP SD9043MAC on the point. - 4/15/15
NS SD70ACe 1122 leads a Roanoke bound intermodal through Wabun, VA on the ex N&W amid a light dusting of snow.- 2/28/15
NS Dash-9 9169 leads a westbound grain train through Wabun, VA on the NS Christiansburg District- 2/28/15
Nice scrap load.

I enjoyed your picture, Seth.
Christopher, I always enjoy your pictures with your children. They always remind of me my grandkids. The youngest is 2 and Papa has got him into trains. I have a picture of him packing his Thomas the Train engines on my cell phone that his mother sent me a couple months ago. BTW did you get my email I sent you about the MPC era trains I saw at Eastside Trains?
Larry
Ok I gotta post these two. A good friend brought her 4yr old grandson over the other day. The look says it all.
The Dr Pepper sign in Roanoke has visitors.

I like BIG TRAINS and BIG SOUND!
I came across CJB Custom Painting & Designs online. Locomotives and cars were beautiful! I thought of a gap on my roster that had never been filled. Walter Matuch was having a sale on his streamliners (formerly K-Line). I purchased 4 cars. He sent them to CJB. She [Christine Braden] sent photos of them. As far as I know, these are the first passenger cars painted to match a 2348 M&StL GP9. I'll post her photos. When the cars arrive I'll post photos of the whole set.
that's a beautiful set.....shame to stick a Dismal on the front of those beauties....
Carl,
Works like a top! The 675 runs great as well.
Once again, to one and all;
Great photos every week!
BNSF ACF Center Flow 2970 Cu Ft 2-bay covered hopper built for K-Line. Bachmann has to make them in all the other railroad schemes not yet produced.

Did anyone else see the Civil War History Channel special this past week. It featured colorized photos from the war..stunning pictures.
Lincoln's train preparing to leave Hanover Junction to go to Gettysburg.

The Civil War railroading views of City Point, VA found in my latest Civil War railroads book are fascinating! City Point was a VERY interesting operational center.
Andre
my childhood PW 675
Carl - Love the video. I wish mine would have smoked like that.
That was also my first engine! I still love them. The were one of the best designed, best running steam engines Lionel made.
Worked on the modules this weekend. Wired some action accessories with push buttons for the kids to use.. (See Weekend at the Movies). Set up a town on module two. Should I call it "Menardville?" With the Milwaukee Road no longer in existence, the town is experimenting with how to use its former locomotive house. Here they were checking clearances for possible use as a fire station. Next use of the modules will be at Beltsville, MD Day, Sunday May 17 in the Beltsville, MD Community Center.
Another week of inspiring photos!
A general question if I may. Do you plan for scenery space before laying track or fill the available spaces after the track is down? Obviously you have to plan for structures; but what about a scene such as provided by Neal with his shot of the PRR Middle Division?
Freshly repaint job on Chicago Great Western NW-2 calf from CJB Custom Painting Shop. MTH made powered and dummy Chicago Great Western NW-2 cows but they never made for calf, got NW-2 calf from ebay and sent to CJB for repaint to match cow.
Peter,
It looks like Beantown is the place to be. I'm glad you had a great visit with Marty, Dotty, Chris, and his wife! And the cat too!!
Scott, Turtle, and Andre,
Yes I saw some of the colorized Civil War program. Sure does bring it to life. I have seen the photo before that it is believed Lincoln is in the center. There weren't many men those days who would stand that tall compared to other men.
Thanks everyone!!
