Hello all, Just got back home after over 2 weeks in England, so pardon me if this is not from my layout. Instead, here's one I took at the National Railway Museum, York, England. They have a nice O-gauge two-rail layout. This is a model of the Mallard, the 4-6-2 that set and still holds the world speed record for steam locmotives at 138 mph. The original is also at the museum.

Thanks, Nicole. We did have a fantastic time. I saw the actual Mallard, of course. An even bigger surprise was having its sister engine, "The Bittern," on our steam excursion trip on the 15th. Several of the Mallard-class are still active. Some are in green paint, but Bittern is blue like Mallard. Here's a photo I took in Plymouth after the locomotive had uncoupled from the train and was headed for service.
I think this would make a fantastic Lionel engine, and is a reminder of the 30's.

Great photo's everyone! I look forward to this thread every week.
Here's a few projects I've been working on the last few weeks. My Dad's favorite road besides the Nickel Plate Road is the Wheeling & Lake Erie. Since there isn't much out there to buy off the shelves, he asked if I could do a couple repaints for him of some Rail King equipment. You all get to see them before he will. I have to wait until Thanksgiving for delivery.

Don, after 7 years, I've had enough of what's there now. Maybe something slightly bigger and a bit more realistic scenery next time.

I know the DT&I never had any variant of the SD40, but I love the SD40-2 and had to have one. It is numbered just above the GP40s and their variants in the DT&I roster.
New design for the crash pad layout. It's 6x8. Designed to show off all the whirring and noise making accessories. I use three crossovers. BY using the old trick of wiring certain switch pairs together, the train will take a different route around the loop automatically. I also include a pic of how I notched Fastrack transition piece to use with my Bascule bridge.
Still have a few more accessories to place. Also, a whole bunch of buildings, cars, people, etc.. to fill up the open space.
