Had a nice surprise this week. The in laws have been on a trip to Alaska, Canada with a stop over in NYC. FIL wanted to get Mason and myself a model of the Rocky Mountaineer tourist train they travelled on during their trip.

As this was not available in 3 rail O gauge FIL took himself on a trip to Train World while he was in NYC. First I knew of it was a phone call from Train World asking what control system we had.

 This arrived this week.

FIL went with Alaska road name. Very nice. What we were not expecting was all the cars. He liked the search light car which is Strasburg Railroad so he bought it as well.

Engine is Lionel, Cars by MTH apart from the searchlight car.

Have a great Sunday

Well, I had to miss York this year due to a last-minute family issue, but I did get back from Utah in time to take a grandson to the Great Scale Train show at the Timonium Maryland State Fairgrounds. More three-rail activity is appearing there. Here's the DC Hi-Railers Layout. "Look Grandpa, there are apples on the trees!" Indeed there were, very realistic made with small beads and hairspray used to keep them in place. Lots of scale pumpkins, too! After going to the show yesterday, and sleeping over last night, all he's wanted to do today is work on the basement layout. "Let's pretend we are at a train show and this is one of the layouts that we are getting ready....."

I love it when a plan comes together!

A few layout photos...all iPhone material here.

I like to think that I've run out of room until I find the "last thing" that I think I can make room for.

Had a great time at Quaker Steak & Lube   I tried to get lubed drinking something they called Burn Rubber  Had four of them before switching back to my favorite flavor beer.  The best part of Burn Rubber though was that they were made with home made lemonade  All those pits that got stuck in the straw were quickly shot at Alex's head.  LOL

We started out the night gawking at female wrestling on the TV by us.  Dina said they have nothing on her

Then Alex wanted to take a picture of our waitress who was great

Alex didn't think he looked as cool as the waitress so he had to act like he was
