I asked about Westsides 200 ton crane early, thanks to every one for your input. I also wonted to ask about there Big Boy & SP 0-6-0 switcher, again how mutch would you expect to pay ? And how good were the drives on these loco,s. The 0-6-0 was it the same 0-6-0 as offered by Lobaugh or a differant class. Thanks Stephen. (cTr..... Choose the Right)

Stephen, there were two Westside 0-6-0s. Both were models of SP prototypes. One was a "Shop" switcher based on SPs #217 (originally a class S-8). The other was modeled after an S-10. Both were nice models to look at but most didn't run very well. If you're a rivet counter there are other issues such as, HO drivers (way too many spokes and nowhere near the correct counterweight profile). Bottom line, in my opinion, very nice models that can be made even better with some modifications.
The Lobaugh model was also based on an SP prototype but completely different fabrication techniques. It was based on the S-13/S-14 class. This is another model with great potential and is an absolute beast for pulling power (considering it's size).

I installed a USH/PSC gear box and a Maxon motor in my Westside S-10. Made a very smooth slow running switcher. Bob Stevenson is producing the kit for the former Lobaugh SP 0-6-0.
The last time I saw a Westside model on ebay, it went for about $800.

I would proceed with caution. Some Westside has USH quality, and some were built to standards that are more in keeping with display models. As I understand it, the builder was thinking our track was 4'8 1/2" scale. Sooner or later, somebody will die cast the Harriman switcher, and maybe by then they will be forced into round boilers and hidden gearboxes. Some of the 3- rail stuff surpasses our earlier imports already, even with u shape boilers.
