I got to catch the rest of this tonight. I was lucky to win one of these on the Bay at auction a year or so ago. I was at work at the time so that made winning it even harder. Mine is waiting to get converted to Legacy by Bruk who has been a busy guy for quite some time now. Last I heard he was doing some brass engines which are not easy to work on. It is green of course, great engine, great color too.

Thanks MARTYE and DAVE!!!

MARTY, yes it was great to see MTH push LIONEL into making better engines with more details….win win for everyone in the hobby.

DAVE, wow that is AWESOME about getting this engine done up in Legacy….hope it has whistle steam…and please take a video of this superb engine when done.

Not done yet, I'm on the big waiting list but that is the plan when I send it out to Bruk. It will be going with the 28084 Dreyfuss Hudson from ages ago. I cannot wait to send it out. I have other projects in the works, but like those two, waiting for confirmation to send out to get upgraded.

This engine was actually a "P&LE" note the P&LE on call bin and then NYC SUB (The Title Giant) engine).  After WWII the P&LE was ready to sign a contract for DIESELs.  When NYC top management forced them to order ten of these from ALCO.  Based on what all happened after 7 were delived P&LE Management canceled the contract!

The things you referred to as values on the side of the fire box were actually part of the "smoke-consuming equipment."

When I turned on my computer this morning, I know Wednesday is the day for " Whistle Stop Wednesday Videos".  I am sure many looked forward to that announcement on Wednesday and a great information video. Laz, I know you took a break from the Wednesday routine, and I hope all is well with you. I just wanted you to know I miss seeing your presentations and hearing that booming announcement "What have we here". Be well and I hope you return soon.     Best Regards, Bill Park
