It seems that folks are starting to post their ideas for Christmas Layouts, and I was bored, so I figured I'd add to the mix.  I can't even claim "Christmas in July," as I'm 3 days early.

I need to show off my scale Gold Polar Express set this year, so the O-36 that came with my streamlined PE set last year won't cut the mustard. I'll have to work around the speakers & entertainment center with O-72, and the walls of the room confine me to this space.  I've managed to squeeze in a side track that'll work with the longer cars, engine(s), but for freight operations I've incorporated the O-36 switches that came w/the track expansion pack.  Might put a station (maybe even the PE one) on the longer siding. I've got Lionel FasTrack to work with: what came w/the basic set & short loop expansion, as well as a full circle of O-72 and two of the 30" straight sections.

As always, any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Neal,

Not sure if the scale PE wil negotiate the 036 switches.

I made some fitment corrections. FasTrack 072 switches have 1 3/8" half roadbed pieces that you have to use on the turnout & thru ends. Look at the product picture in the catalog or on the website.

That messed up the straight fitment, so I corrected that for you.

Added layers for track and tree and e-center.

I tried a depressed figure 8, over and under and a regular figure 8 in 072. They won't fit.

Perhaps a twice around with 084 and 072. I'll play with it tomorrow. I think you have it for the givens that exist.

Would love to, but I'm probably pushing my wife's limits at 6' into the room.    I may have to disconnect the track & push it back towards the back wall when not in use.  Besides, much further out & it may be uncomfortably close to the foot space for the recliner....
