Am certain this is a simple oversight due to unfamiliararity as I've not operated our Legacy equipment much this past year. The club layout has been under construction most of this time and not operational very often. Today I took a couple of pieces over to run and photograph and noticed that our C&O Berkshire wouldn't come on in Legacy mode - just TMCC. Also had the Legacy Santa Fe Geep pair which functioned normally. What am I missing please?

You're sure it's a Legacy locomotive, right? 
Would this be the C&O Berkshire 6-30066 Empire Builder set? I don't see a reset in the manual, so that's out.
Have you tried just changing the engine set-up in the Legacy remote? I saw this happen when using my Legacy remote on other bases during a club run. Did you use the info button on the Legacy remote and change the set up to Legacy from TMCC? Just trying to think of the easy and simple first.
I only had a few minutes at the layout today and was drawing a 'blank' as to what to do. Yes John, it's the Empire Builder No 2696. It has run in Legacy last fall when I first got it but it's been 6-7 month since I had it on the track.

If I can get some time later this evening (wife's family coming for a visit) I'll set up a length of track here and try again. I just don't remember what little I knew about operating Legacy last year when I bought it. Our layout came down shortly afterwards and I've lost track of the way to do things with it!

Sam the pictures you posted begs the question is it a 2696 as pictured or is it a 2699 from the Empire Builder set as you stated?

being a club layout most likely someone changed the command base to tmcc with the number you use. happens all the time at our club. I have gone to using numbers that have no relation to the number on the engine. I just have to keep a list of my numbers.

Just checked the Lionel site and C&O 2699 is the TMCC version from 2004.

I take it the mystery of why it won't run in Legacy has been solved?
Not yet John. Am too busy this evening to clear a bench, hook up some track and the Legacy system and try some of the suggestions. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon....
just remember home legacy and club legacy hold different info. nothing is in the hand held.
When you say "Come Up" in Legacy mode, do you mean it won't run when set to Legacy, or the CAB-2 shows TMCC? Remember the CAB2 has to be set, it will not automatically load engine type just because the engine is Legacy
Now if theCAB2 entry is set to Legacy and the engine won't respond there is a problem
Family has left and I have my room back. Its all cleaned up too (an added bonus).
Was able to recheck the Berkshire and set the Cab2 to Legacy. I feel silly that it was such a simple fix. Since our move I've not had much chance to operate anything in Legacy and I'm still very unfamiliar with the functions.
