A lot of these suggestions have never been done in o-gauge, which leads to the conclusion that Menards would have to work up brand new tooling.

Are all of their freight car offerings thus far from old tooling (k-line or wherever) or did they actually tool up new dies for flat cars, etc?

Menards can send an HO scale car to their manufacturer to copy.  The gondola I mentioned does not have too many added details and would be a good choice. Plus, All of the other manufacturers are dragging their feet.

Everything so far have been clones of existing postwar-style (traditional-size) cars, with slight variations (such as the open stirrups on the 11" flatcars). The one exception to date is the long flatcar (note that even those have not been described as "scale" in any official marketing materials).

I'm guessing that one criteria for items added to the lineup is the ability to negotiate 031 curves, as prior to the introduction of the long flatcars, it was asked what was the longest carbody that could still round an 027 (or 031) curve.

I do notice that 'Menards' has liked this topic

I'd like a flat auto carrier with two police cars, each car with working red/blue police lights on top.  A flat car carrying a large construction vehicle with flashing safety lights (yellow?) would also be very cool.  I like their flat cars with vehicle loads with working lights.  I like these products because they are a sharp distinction from the more common box and gondola cars.  I have the F-150 security truck with working headlights and taillights and it is one of my favorites.  I understand there is a flat load with a lighted ambulance, but I have not seen it in action.
