Club  co-founder Harold Clackett and one of his sons Josh built this amazing Back to the Future diorama this month. They have been acquiring the proper pieces for about 6 months now and it's finally coming together.

They watched the three films and reviewed the extra material on the DVDs to see how the crew filmed the movies. Films II and III were actually filmed at the same time and a crane was used in BAF III to suspend the actors while they had the hoverboard attached to their feet.

hello guys and gals.........

I have that movie and it was really SAD to see that handsome ten wheeler being destroyed !!!!!!!!!.  Tell me guys did they (movie makers) used the real engine in the movie after falling off the half completed trestle to complete destruction down below or did they use life size fake engine ?

The Steam Locomotive was a 1/8th scale replica built to fall into the ravine.

 

The Time Machine DeLorean that was used on the rails and that was smashed at the end of the movie was a replica. If one examines still photos of all the various DeLorean Time Machines, it is possible to see all the approximate parts used on the railroad wheel version that was destined to be smashed.

Just makes those left even more valuable!!  I hate seeing any vintage car destroyed in film but most times they are bondo filled cars no one really wants. The 'Star cars' are saved......

I work in props sometimes. For Broadway I've cut up and rebuilt Parts doner Junkers the chrome was worth more than the car body. Usually we don't use the frame just panels anyway. I've done a 23 model T, a 32 A and a 56 Plymouth. For the Fords I even built wooden fake engines because the actors open the hoods. Because we had to fly them for stage storage we couldn't use the real ones(too heavy). The Plymouth was the most fun because that we built as a convertible and chopped 1 1/2 feet out of the center and built  one side forward so it appeared as a foreshortened 3/4 view. All that and the actors danced on the hood.
