Most European and English clockwork models have a lever that hangs down from the mechanism that when tripped by a flag (operated by the signal or lever on a special track) will set the brakes. Some of the more deluxe models could be reversed by a similar arrangement and some could be restarted by dropping the flag, most of them though, required the operator to pull the brake lever to restart them.
