I like many of the issues but find the inconsistency of what set/single sale item has traditional motors. I prefer those as I like the e unit and checking the motor out...works of art. But you will see a set that is Proto only...then next to it a random unrelated single version of the loco in a different scheme that's traditional.

I think what he is referring to is that the catalog lists some of the locos as either proto or traditional only (not available either way). My guess is this is an error and they will be offered both ways.

When thumbing through the 2014 LCT catalog, some versions of the locos there are only offered in PS3. To find a traditional version of the same loco I had to go to a previous catalog to find what I wanted.
I terms of the LCT RTR sets, I believe they only come in PS2/PS3 versions. I've never seen one in a tradition outfit.
There are a number of sets offered in both...I purchased a 299 outfit last year in traditional, and it's still offered in both traqditional and Protosound in the current catalog (see page 11).

Hi PD – You are correct. I’m uncertain if Mike was referring to O Gauge or Standard Gauge trains in his original post. From what I can see in the catalog, the Standard Gauge starter sets are Proto versions.
