$3 Board at Menard's Cost Me $69!!!

Just went to my local Menard's to buy a $3.39 pine board.  While going through the checkout, three O-gauge freight cars accidentally went through with it.

Don't ya' just hate it when that happens?

2 Rails?  3 Rails?  Doesn't matter, I can't count that high anyway.

I love the smell of fresh-brewed creosote first thing in the morning.

Shame on Menards for taking advantage of defenseless train addicts simply out shopping for household necessities to keep a roof over their heads during the cold winter!!!

That is called a Loss Leader.  Grocery stores learned a long time ago if you get a family in the door to buy one item(even if sold at a per item loss) they more than likely will buy something not on their shopping list.  Someone finally described what their train department is designed to do.  John in Lansing, ILL

Menards would be smart to scatter a few train items around here and there in the lumber, tools, plumbing, electrical, fasteners, paint, etc. departments, along with a sign giving the location of their main train aisle.

In November I stopped at Two different Menards to get cars for my grandson,  The 1st Menards was only 280 miles from my house and the other store was 475 miles from my house (both stores were within my 500 mile drive limit that I set for myself on model train shows). In between the two stores I did attend the Dodge City Kansas train show for 2 days)

P.S. I have no driving limit on real trains and vacation to see trains.

I drove 158 miles to the Menards in Wichita KS. last month to get some insulation that was on sale for $7.00 a roll of R-13 bought 5 rolls, they had there Christmas stuff up and there train items, it cost me more that $300.00 to get out of that place. Great place to spend money.

Thanks for the great laugh, MIXED FREIGHT. I'll bet you drove by a Lowe's and Home Depot, though, to go buy that board.

My wife calls those kind of stores $100.00 Stores.  She says every time I go to HD a  $100.00 is always deducted from the checking account.  I'm sure glad they don't sell trains.
