I have no experience on any of this, but this is what I did - I sprayed the end of a Q-tip with Krylon Semi-flat. I built it up (2-3 applications) a bit to where the old paint line was. Before it dried completely, I took a fine grit sanding stick to blend the lines together until they were about gone. The sheen was almost spot on, but then I used some black chalk dust on my finger and massaged it all around the area. You can tell something is there, but I think it looks like natural play wear for something 70 years old. I have no intention of ever selling it so I'm good with it.
