That's just the mode that particular TMCC ID is running in. Press ID and scroll over and you can change the operating mode.

I said "Like" its close enough to show the form factor difference. Beside it would have been more likely that he gotten a new 1L instead of a 1 if he had somehow mysteriously gotten a 1L in the very large and labeled 990 box that was shipped to him

If they are damaged, send em back. Sounds like some sloppy repair work to correct the original problem.
I've talked with the dealer and he is going out of his way to make things right. He sent me a ups return label and is swapping out systems.
I received my LEGACY 990 Command Set Tuesday and so far so good. Everything looked new including the blue box in which it came. But, I'm holding onto my LEGACY CAB-1L Command Set if/when the time comes to get my LEGACY 990 Command Set serviced.
Refurbished 990's sold as new, cab 1's masquerading as a cab 2, broken pieces.
I sure hope my heavy mike with the plastic boiler is more reliable when it comes. It could get messy when if the smoke units overheat.
We'll I tested out my extra 990 system I picked up and went through every function and everything works perfect including the charging circuit.
I wonder if Lionel during the repair process in North Carolina remembered to account for the American Manufacturing curse about production on Monday and Fridays?
Maybe a bean counter could crunch the numbers to determine if the numbers correlate with the repairs made on those days.
