i inherited an old lionel 384 loco/tender/ and some cars. I am attempting to rebuild the engine but there are pieces missing that need replaced. I have found most of the pieces needed such as a new replacement frame/drive wheels for those that had metal rot and had the bild-a-loco motor worked on so it would run. I found that the new frame did not include the latches that hold the motor to the frame. I am trying to locate where i can find these latches, verify the sizes of various screws, and get replacement brass pieces (such as pipes, windows, and hand rails) for the engine itself. I have looked at catalogs from various companies and repair shops but have not found these items. Other than trying to size and make them myself, where else can i look to find them? Are there actual exploded views that I can get (the only views i have are from Olsens when I could actually access their site)? I have looked but havent found any, Thank you.

Most of the parts are available from MTH, www.ttender.com or you might have to fabricate them.

Thank you for the reply. Already contacted Jeff at ttender. He has the latches and flag holders but no rivets to hold them. Doesn't have the piping so guessed I will have to fabricate them. Still hoping to find them first if possible.

I do have a question. This loco is only one of four different locos I received. Can you tell me where I can reference these exploded views for my future referencing? Darn if i can find them. Thanks
John
I have hard copy of those locos. For some reason, the published parts breakdown omits that loco. https://www.mthtrains.com/site...parts_v_1/index.html
Check the replacement frame to see if it has threaded inserts in the holes to mount the latches. If it does, it uses a stepped screw to secure it. MTH has them, or I have a few.
You can search "lionel 384" on ebay. There are a couple shells listed in the $40-50 range with the trim. You have to weigh the price against how hard it would be to bend the rails. They are not mine.
