FOR TODAY:  Seen while riding my bike around Patsburg on Friday afternoon.  

Four railroads ... four powerful locomotives.  Well, some more powerful than others .. lol!

It's 12;45 p.m. and it looks like Clay Jenkins is arriving back in town early.  He usually arrives on either the 4:00 or 4:30 commuter train.  I'm sure his briefcase is full of work papers which will keep him busy all this weekend.  

Patrick...great pics as always!  I've noticed in the past and again today the realistic treatment and detail on your rails...the weathering looks just like the real thing

FOR TODAY:  Since this is the start of National Fire Prevention week, here is a tribute to the Patsburg Fire Dept. ...  and in reality to all the real life fire fighters serving throughout our country.  

Elmwood Hose Co. serves the Westend Community of Patsburg with a  Mack B Pumper and Mercedes Benz Ambulance.

Arrival of a new Seagrave ladder truck ... a welcome addition to the Patsburg Fire Dept.  Chief Bulldog Merson, wearing white helmet, inspects the truck before unloading.  

Nothing says "fire apparatus" like the nose of a Seagrave!

Engine  Co. 5 protects Lower Patsburg with Engine 5, Ambulance 5, Heavy Rescue 51 ( out of view deep in the engine bay ) and a very recently purchased used mini pumper from Garden City FD.  

Wow Pat, that’s a lot of fire protection equipment!

Wow Patsburg must have passed one heck of a Fire levee to get such a wonderful looking aril ladder truck!

Here’s today’s

We traveled out west through South Dakota  Colorado  Kansas and  saw a lot of wind mills or turbines. Here in Western  Kentucky coal keeps the lights on especially  on my layout.

FOR TODAY:  "Dog gone it Earl!   I wish it wundn't  this early in the morning!  It's still too dark to get a good gander at that brand new Mercury you just bought.  From what I can tell it's a bute!  You say it got a straight eight under the hood?"  "Yep that's right Vern, a straight eight and she will get on down the road too!  Let me tell ya!  Once I went down to the dealer and signed off on the paper work, I hoped on in, tromped on the gas and pealed out the parking lot onto US 11.  I had her in high gear!  Then to my disbelief  when I looked in my rear view mirror I saw a state police car commin  up quick with its emergency lights flashing.  I thought what the heck,  so I tromped on the gas some more.  I was leaven that o'l cop in the dust until I had to stop for a train at a grade crossing.  Well you can only guess how that turned out!"

Beautiful K-Line F units from shortly before their demise

@c.sam Those later K-Lines are nicely detailed and had the option of replacing the coupler with a fixed pilot and door covering the coupler area. I just picked up an ABBA set in addition to this ABA set. The difference in detailing is significant. Both sets are great runners.

It is interesting about the difference in K-Line models as far as detail does. These PRR units are very well detailed and the B units have smoke too.

FOR TODAY:  The crew is just returning from lunch at the KittyKat Kafe. ...  "Well Luther they say seeing is believing ... and after seeing what you ate for lunch it'll be best for you to ride on the deck of the transfer caboose.   I see Tater is already got his spot picked out on the side deck of the engine.  I can't believe you ate a plate of corned beef and cabbage, was still hungry, and chased it down with a large bowl of chile with extra onions no less!  It's going to be one heck of a long ride down to Beavertail Junction!"  Luther just nods and grins. .... just another day on the railroad!

Great photos Patrick! I could use a new car!

I remember seeing all the new cars on the open auto racks years ago!  They were always a highlight when I spotted them in a train!  Well done, Pat!!

Ron -  Yes the only way the FSJR will transport coverable autos is with the tops up.  

Mike - it's never too late to hop on over to Patsburg and visit the Smith Brothers for a great deal on a new car ... plus with every new car sold they throw in a large bag of their famous cough drops too!!  

Mark - I loved watching new cars being shipped by rail back in the 1950's and 60s.   I remember seeing new model year cars being shipped before  they were announced by the manufacturer.  Back then I "think" the new models were announced at some point in September and I would see those cars on train a couple months prior.
