I've been think about this project since I saw the movie while dating my now wife......so it's been a long time as I have 3 grandkids now!!!  But the passing of Gene Wilder and finding a WbB F3-A unit during an inventory that had no project attached to it.....I decided to finally start this project.

I know the movie loco is not an F3-A but as stated I had this one on hand and will fool 99.999% of people!!! It started life as a IC loco. I did my normal removal of logos and softening of paint break lines. After primer and sealer I painted it gloss white. Masked the nose area off and applied 3 coats of Tamiya bright red.

I drew the decal artwork in CorelDraw and printed them on white decal stock. No white 'ink' was used.  The black out anti glare panel is a decal. The model still needs some fine tuning and touch up, all glass and number boards. No weathering on this one......she is a movie star after all.

I'll post finished photos as soon as I finish it up. Just had to share as I was happy how it came out.

In case there are those unsure what this is....it's the Gene Wilder film 'Silver Streak' a great film.

PS. I have one extra set of decals. If anyone wants to BUILD their own version I'll send them.....but I really want to give them to someone that will build it. Thanks

Dave,
Since you did all of that, did you not consider masking off the "AMROAD" & chevron decal areas so that the white in the decal would have white background making it 100% opaque?

I normal layout lighting the difference is not noticeable to me.  I may have done it for a more 'serious'model.....I did this just for fun because I had an extra F3 sitting around. thx

I am going to suggest that if anyone takes Dave up on his offer, or, you attempt a similar simple paint job such as this where the white needs to be white, don't cut corners. After going to all of the trouble to mask off the nose, take a few extra minutes to mask off the simple rectangle and chevron shapes so that after applying your white decals the white doesn't look pink.

The method that I use is to use my copier to copy & print (in B&W as all you are needing is the shape) the decal to an adhesive shipping label. Then cut around the image of the decal and use it for a mask.

Hey Dave!!

Great work my friend love to see what's next on your project list......You sure came a long way from painting my Amtrak express boxcar many year ago!!

Thanks all!!!

Sean hope things are well with you and yours.

I have been restricted to my wheelchair for a few weeks and this has caused me to stop work for a while....I am doing some things I still can do.

I have completed the AM Rail loco and fished up another before my chair stay.....I'll post the finished and new project as soon as I can get up and photograph them.

Thanks!

Dave
