October will be a very steamy month at the B&O Museum. Every Saturday in October, 0-4-0T #4, a coal fired Porter built in 1950 will be fired up and hauling short train rides...this is the first time the museum has ever done a "month long" Steam run. Also, on Saturday October 5 and  Sunday October 6, not only will the Porter be running but the museum will have the ex-B&O Lafayette 4-2-0 replica (Blt. 1927) and Imlay coaches out and about. The Layfayette is rarely put under steam. I believe the last time it operated was in 2008.

Mitch,

I seem to recall a conversation with museum engineers that the museum doesn't have enough steam-qualified crew to run more than two engines and perhaps that carries over to running two over a longer period of time. Regardless, the museum sees the demand for steam and is accommodating that demand for the first time since dropping the Spring steam days for a visit from the "blue dude". Plus, having the Lafayette and likely the Imlay cars behind it will make for a neat "period" passenger train.

The weather Gods have also been good....since the museum has a string of bad luck with the Lafayette weather wise, this weekend will be the first in a LONG time the engine has run and it didn't POUR rain! Bring earplugs for that whistle!

Looking forward to your photos if you do make it...!
