We recently returned home from winter in Gulf Shores Alabama, and on the way we had the pleasure of visiting for several hours with Alan and his gracious wife LaKeeta at their home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. They were extremely hospitable and made us feel right at home; like we had been friends for years. As many of you know the Arnold's have a HUGE 3 rail layout above the garage, which digital subscribers can view pictures of online. The layout was featured in run 314 I believe Alan said. The layout has engines and rolling stock from most North American road names, including UP, Pennsy, BNSF, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. You could easily spend several days and still not see it all. Every time I view the pictures I see things previously unnoticed.

Below are a few of the pics taken during our visit, and you can see the layout is awesome. The last picture of course is of the railroad CEO, and his Superintendent!

I want to take this opportunity to once again thank Alan and LaKeeta for their generous hospitality and making our visit such a pleasure. It was the highlight of our trip home!!

Wow, the Arnolds’ layout is amazing! I’ve never seen an above-garage layout as awesome as this one. Now I’ll have to check out run 314. Thanks for posting. 👍

Oh and by the way, Sir Rod, I think your model railroad city layout is awesome as well. I admired the way you would book an extra hotel room and bring your model train tools to work on train projects before your concerts. But you look a little different in your avatar forum photo. Anyway, nice going.

Gulf Shores is a pretty good haul from Alberta (I looked). I live 30- 40 minutes from Gulf Shores, so I wondered.

Yah we covered 2500 miles each way, 4 nights on the road, not a big deal. Good weather and good highways all the way. We like a nice road trip where its just us, seeing the countryside, and no one can find us haha.

We would fly but connections to Mobile or Pensacola are not good, and we need a vehicle once there anyway. 2 months car rental at today’s rates would be scary!

5000 miles!  That's a thousand more than I put on my car in a year!!  One day we will be able to get away!  We just commented on what I highlighted again this weekend!

I agree with @EmpireBuilderDave about the height of the skyscrapers!  Thank you again!
