Haven't decided if I want this coaling tower to be depicted as abandoned or not yet. Maybe half abandoned.

Had to laugh when I saw your comment and tower...

Years ago I built the Gloor kit version (similar) of your tower.  Then I couldn't figure out how to accommodate it on the layout.  (Knee-jerk purchase for the kit-building passionate?)  Poor planning, for sure!!!

Anyway, there it sits at the far end of the workbench...all dressed up...with a coating of shop dust...with no place to go, as they say.

Yep...she be 'abandoned' all right!!

(Not going to waste the space with a photo...that's not what the OP wanted us to show...with apologies to the same!)

How do I go about putting my pictures on here?  I'm using a Nikon digital camera to take the pictures and loading them onto my iMac computer.

Forty, once you write your post on you iMac or respond to someone else, there is a paperclip symbol and the words "Add Attachments". Click on that and a window will pop up where you select what you want to upload.  Pics or videos are the same process. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes, depending on the speed of your connection. After you make you selection and click "upload", you will see "processing" and then a box that says "finished". If you have more than one, then just keep repeating. Once your satisfied, scroll down and hit "Post". There can be a delay there too, depending on size. I uploaded some videos yesterday that took about 5 minutes to complete.

Good luck! If you need more help, I can mark uo some screen shots for you.

The coaling tower was offered by Sunset Thirdrail, (Golden Gate Depot).  Nice model at the time.  One of their few ventures into something, other than, high-end locomotives/diesels.  Static model, the coal chutes, have exceptional detail, and movement.  There were a couple of different plastic colors, the steps/stairs were a scale issue.  Pictured above, the steps/stair problem has been corrected.

Hah ! -  Chapter 11 is a plan of debt reorganization where businesses stay open and try to survive - looks more like it should be Chapter 7, which is a complete liquidation. Guess Walthers didn't consult with counsel beforehand.

My bad……..I freely admit my negligence…….all three of my kids are lawyers, and, I should have consulted with them…..my lawyer daughter and her lawyer husband in DC; my lawyer son in Philly and my lawyer daughter in Manhattan. I had plenty of people to ask but neglected to do so……

Just remembered that I had shot these many years ago. I had built an intricate train station that was "inside" my layout, in other words, a subterranean station with structures and tracks running above. When I had to move out of the house I proceeded to dismantle (destroy) about ten years of hard labor and love. But I had the foresight to pose a couple of figures as they walk through the demolition.  The figures' befuddled look captured my own...good and sad memories here.

I just added the pictures above, of the house that I took up in Maine.   It had been owned by a sea captain and there is a web site about it.  I built it reversed to fit the layout better.   If I remember correctly I think the switch tower had a lot of broken parts so it made sense to build it in diss repair.  I think it also adds a lot of interest to the layout.

Stu, I really like that signal tower of yours, has a DL&W appearance to it.  Who’s kit is it ?

the kit was from model tech studio but they stopped making them10-15 years ago.   I did a search for others and only found one in N gauge.  They were also used by the new haven.   There are other O scale tower kits and prebuilt structures out there.
