I have Orient Express passenger cars by MTH O Gauge and I am trying to add them to my tender and I don't see any light come on inside the cars and not sure how they lock on to each other. I also us DCS on this train.

Are these 2-Rail cars, just like the locomotive you purchased?
If those are 2 rail cars they won't light up on 3 rail track as the wheel sets are insulated like on H.O. 2 rail.
Try to put power to each wheel side and see what happens, if the car lights up then it is 2 rail. Or you can use a piece of Gargraves track and put the power wires to each outside rail and see if the car lights up.
You may have to add a center rail roller pick-up to use it on 3 rail, not an easy thing to do, unless you change out the truck assembly.
