My previous experience with airbrush paints includes Badger and Createx brands which are spray ready right out of the bottle.
I just acquired some Polly Scale paints and was ready to start my paint project when I decided to read the instructions which says to dilute the paint with 4 parts paint and 1 part distilled water. Of course, there is not a drop of distilled water in my house; and I'm not in the mood at this moment to drive 16 miles round trip to the grocery store just to buy only a bottle.
So, my question is: what happens if I ignore the distilled water requirement and use tap water? I'm trying to reason the manufacturer's distilled water requirement. Is it a chemical issue where city water with fluorine and chlorine additives would degrade functioning? Or well water that might have sediment to clog the mixture? I have well water that is perfectly clear without ever seeing any sediment when put in a glass; and the taste is quite good. There is no lingering aftertaste like you would experience if the water had sulfur or iron in it.
